SOPS FOR NON MUSLIM RELIGIOUS PLACES OF WORSHIP(Update 4-9-2020)

The National Security Council of the Malaysian government updated the standard operating procedures for non-muslim religious sites under the Covid-19 Recovery Operations Control Order (RMCO) on September 4 2020, allowing devotees regardless of their nationality to visit non-muslim religious sites.They are all allowed to participate in religious activities in these religious places and no longer specify the number of people in the religious sites but require the religious sites to limit the number of people based on the distance of 1 meter.

In any case, some of the original SOPs have not been changed. This includes discouraging devotees with chronic diseases, elderly people and children under the age of 12 from entering.

In addition, the government has also drafted the following new or revised rules:

1.Devotees regardless of their nationality are allowed to enter into the worship houses and attend religious activities.

2.Only limited devotees are allowed on the premises for physical distancing practice.

3.Religious and cultural activities are permitted to be scheduled and carried out provided that all stipulated standard operating procedures (SOP) are in place.

4.Dome-setting, Packed Food or Buffet are allowed though buffet with no waitstaff to serve should be avoided. Patrons are required to put on disposable gloves in self-service buffet.

5.Devotees are required to leave the premises (inner or outer) immediately after the end of the activities.
