As part of inheritance and promotion of Chinese culture duties, the Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association has designed a large Chessboard, namely the Chinese Chess “Xiang Qi” Strategic Culture, presenting the great wisdom of Chinese Culture.

In conjunction with the Belt and Road Initiative, alongside with the “Maritime Silk Road” strategic, enhanced by the LED technology, the designed Chessboard signifies the intensity of a chess combat.

“Xiang Qi” as part of Chinese cultural legacies, also as a resemblance of warfare, shows the art of war in every combat game.

Combination of “Xiang Qi” strategic and the military culture legacy <Sun Tzu’s Art of War> would definitely benefit much, as well as creating a favourable environment, and the victory is expected.

Dr. Tang Chai Yoong, President of the Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association said Chinese Chess ‘Xiang Qi’ reflect the great wisdom of the Chinese nation.

“Although Life Imitates Chess, every combat game is full of variables, but no matter how we use this wisdom, we should bear in mind that Chinese Nation must work together.”

Stretching from zero, Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association creatively initiated a 3-phase-installation-project, which turns a wasteland slope into an attractive chessboard in 3 months’ time.

The chessboard is made up of 9 vertical lines with 10 horizontal lines, forming 64 squares, dividing the opponents into two team coloured in blue and red. Each player has 16 chess pieces. The total measurement is 42 feet by 33 feet.

With the LED technology, this chessboard performs a change of two scenes, formerly an opening of a chess game while latterly followed by a one-move-and-end play.

The implementation of “Xiang Qi” strategic in either business, politics or workplace is suitable. And in our (The Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association) case, in managing the Chinese cultural promotion, possessing the right thoughts and followed by a right strategy is essential.
