Thean Hou Temple of the Selangor and FT Hainan Association has once again bagged 2 Malaysian records. With two of its 2020 Spring Festival productions successfully listed in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR), it now brags 25 Malaysian records and becomes the role model of Chinese organisations both locally and overseas.
These two new Malaysian records are, namely, ‘Most number of blessing bag for devotees during Chinese new year festival (30,000 pcs) and ‘Tallest twin rotating rat sculpture’ measuring 6.4 metres.
Malaysian special envoy to China, national chairman of Democratic Action Party cum Member of Parliament for Bukit Bintang YB Tan Kok Wai witnessed the award ceremony of the two Malaysian records at the 2020 Spring Festival countdown held at the stage outside Thean Hou Temple’Yi Xin Garden.
These 30,000 Mazu wellbeing bags were specially produced by the association in Putian, Fujian Province. On one side, it features the cartoon portrait of Mazu; on the reverse are the wordings of‘Thean Hou Temple of Selangor and Federal Territory Hainan Association’. They were distributed on Jan 1 earlier this year on the thanksgiving dinner and during the spring festival period. It denotes the protection from Mazu and smooth sailing and prosperity in the new year.
Fireworks and Singing performance by Soo Wincci
The two tallest rotating mouse statues are the main theme of our spring festival celebration this year. In conjunction with the year of mouse, the association has specially produced two giant mouse statues of ‘wealth and prosperity’ as mascot for the year of mouse.
Design of this mascot features a mouse standing over a rice bucket and holding an ingot, symbolising a worry-free mouse who lives in a rice bucket wishing everybody a life of abundance and dignity. ‘The Wealth and Prosperity’mascot is standing tall at 21-ft. Diameter of the bucket is 10 ft. and height of the mouse is 13 ft.

The 2020 spring festival new year eve countdown featured many exciting programmes.
